Five minutes from Truckee lies Old Greenwood, the only Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Situated on 600 acres of forest and meadowland surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the course is among uncommonly beautiful surroundings. More than most courses, Old Greenwood is influenced by the land upon which it sits. The course’s closeness to nature is evident in many places, especially where the rolling land, thick forests and water features collide. While the combination is breathtaking, it also presents a challenge. Though difficult, the course is eminently playable, like most Nicklaus designs. But Old Greenwood is more than an incredible golf course, it is also an upscale community replete with opportunities for full and part-time living. While Old Greenwood feels secluded and miles from anywhere, it is less than a 30-minute drive from North Lake Tahoe. Like Truckee, Tahoe City includes many alternatives for dining, shopping and of course, playing.
